Who Is The BBC Presenter Accused
In the aftermath of news that a BBC presenter allegedly paid a teen more than £35,000 for obscene images, a BBC radio personality has resorted to social media to defend himself.
After hearing reports linking his name to the case, Rylan Clark, a BBC Radio 2 broadcaster, reacted to the accusations on Twitter, the Mirror claimed.
I'm not sure why my name is being bandied about, but that's not me, baby, regarding that story in The Sun. Take my name out of your mouths; I'm now filming a programme for the BBC in Italy," he said.
The adolescent was allegedly paid money in exchange for the graphic images when they were 17 years old by an anonymous BBC celebrity, according to allegations made Friday night.
The teen's mother claims that the funds were used to fund her son's addiction to crack cocaine and she holds the unnamed presenter responsible for "destroying her son's life."
The alleged presenter is not expected to appear on air anytime soon, according to the BBC, but the organisation is apparently looking into the claims and has reaffirmed its commitment to treating them seriously.
According to a BBC representative who responded to the issue and was speaking to the Mirror, "We treat any allegations very seriously and we have processes in place to proactively deal with them." As part of that, we will take action if we obtain information that calls for additional research or analysis. That involves making a sincere effort to speak with folks who have contacted us in order to get more information and a better understanding of the circumstance.
"If we don't hear back from our attempts or don't hear from anyone else, it may limit our ability to move things along, but it doesn't imply that we stop asking questions. Any time new information surfaces or is made available, including through newspapers, it will be handled correctly in accordance with internal procedures.
